There are well-maintained roads to get you to Banff and the surrounding ski areas. As always, use extra caution when driving in the winter, meaning drive a little slower and allow for extra stopping distances. Make sure your vehicle has the necessary winter tires as you will most likely encounter some degree of snow cover on the roads and perhaps some ice. The roads through the Rock Mountains are generally kept open however there are some times when there are temporary closures due to winter storms of avalanche work.
