Falls Creek
Falls Creek is a 4 ½ hour drive from Melbourne, an easy day’s drive from Sydney and is the closest Alpine resort to Albury. With 4 m of average yearly snow, falling across 1,111 acres (450 hectares) of fantastic beginner, intermediate and advanced ski and riding terrain and an easy to navigate ski in ski out village makes Falls Creek a true family-friendly ski resort destination.
This skiing at Falls Creek is fabulous and most famous for its bump run lines down the Summit and its tree skiing lines off the International Poma including Valley of the Moon, Jigsaw, Rollercoasters and Wishing Well for the intermediates. Climbing onboard the Eagle Chair, you head up and out of the village and over to the back side, where you are greeted with an endless expanse of ski and riding options. Beginners can lap it up on Drover’s Dream and intermediate and advanced skiers can warm up on towers, then head across to Lakeside, Ruined Castle and over to the Scots Chair and hit the racecourse for some fun.
At the end of a great day skiing, everyone can meet up at Cloud 9 restaurant, and head back to the Village by the various easy green trail is that snake their way throughout the Village and drop you right out front of your accommodation. Night skiing is a treat for the whole family on Wednesdays and Saturdays as you can lap the 2.2 km Wombats Ramble, that’s lit up like a Christmas tree, by riding Harleys Comet chair.
Falls Creek is a really well laid out ski resort that is easy to get around and confidence building for the whole family, which is why it’s so popular and why families return year-on-year to test themselves across the resort’s wide and varied selection of ski and riding terrain.
